South Hills-based robotics team, Team RobotiX, is working to promote robotics in schools for both students and teachers and began a summer workshop series in June. CMU professor and mom Dr. Kim Hyatt started the team as a middle school robotics competition team. Team RobotiX went on to compete in a FIRST Tech Challenge Tournament, having the youngest participants, and won first place as well as the Rookie Team award.
Gillece is one of the local businesses that helped support Team RobotiX, donating electrical services and equipment that helped build a high-tech robotics workshop in the Hyatt’s basement. In order to continue hosting workshops, providing training for teachers, and competing in future competitions, the team is seeking donations and additional help.
Gillece congratulates Team RobotiX on their efforts and progress so far and hope that they can continue growing their organization and helping students throughout the community learn more about the STEM (science, technology, engineering and mathematics) program.
