Common Household Items that are Great for Cleaning

Household items great for cleaning Need to clean but don’t have time to run to the store for your go-to cleaning products? No worries, there are several common household items that are great for cleaning!

Baking sodaBaking soda deodorizes and is a great tool for scrubbing. Before vacuuming your carpets, lightly sprinkle it and sweep it around with a broom. Allow it to sit for about 15 minutes and vacuum it up. When it comes to cleaning counters or scrubbing the shower and toilet, baking soda acts as a great scrubbing agent to remove even mold and mildew! It is best paired with white vinegar.

White VinegarThis common household item is both a disinfectant and deodorizer. It works best when poured into a spray bottle! White vinegar is great for cleaning the bathroom and kitchen. Worried about the smell? Don’t be, it’ll only linger for a few minutes but feel free to add some lemon juice or scented oil for a more refreshing smell.

Lemon JuiceThis item is safe to use on wood furniture but also super effective when cleaning the kitchen sink or tub. First sprinkle the bottom of the tub and sink with baking soda then cut a lemon in half and use it as a scrub brush. The lemon juice will not only leave your home smelling fresh but acts as an antibacterial agent.

Olive OilUse your olive oil for more than just cooking. It can actually be used to clean wooden furniture. Place a small amount on a rag and wipe in long clean strokes. When finished it will look just as good if not better than if you had used a wood specific chemical cleaner!

Hydrogen PeroxideHydrogen peroxide can be used for things other than cleaning out cuts. It can be used in place of bleach to whiten whites. Have a brown spot in the bottom of your tub or bathroom sink? Fill the tub or sink with enough water to cover the base and pour about a quarter of the bottle in and let it sit for about a half hour. There will be a little scrubbing involved after this and you’ll have one clean tub or sink!
