Design – When it comes to remodeling your bathroom, you’ll want to make sure you’ve planned extensively. You need to know what you want to do with your bathroom, install a new shower and toilet, repaint or install the different tiles. Knowing how you want to design and decorate your bathroom is the first place to start.

Budget – Now that you have your dream bathroom in mind, it’s time to figure out how much it is going to cost you. Start by setting a specific amount of how much you’re willing to spend on this project. Once you have this figure, you can start pricing materials. You’ll soon find you might have to cut corners and purchase cheaper material in order to maintain your total spending budget.

Buy materials – About 1 to 2 months before you begin remodeling your bathroom, you should purchase all the materials you’re going to need. You want to make sure you have everything you need and that everything is going to be the right size.

Demolition – Before you break out the sledgehammer, you need to remove everything from the bathroom. Not only does this include mirrors and floor mats, but you’ll need to remove any hooks or medicine cabinets. Before removing the toilet, use a pump to pump out the excess water in the bowl. During the demolition, you’ll want to be mindful of electrical wiring and plumbing – be careful to not do any damages.

Shower/tub – The next step is to install the shower and or tub. If you’re installing a whole new standing-only shower, you’ll want to install the drain before the pan.

Paint/tile – Time to get to painting the walls and ceiling how you want them! For those tiling, the shower now is the time to do that as well.

Lighting fixtures – Once the paint is dry, install the lighting fixtures to brighten up your newly remodeled bathroom.

Hardware – Next, it is now time to install any cabinets and vanity.

Plumbing – At this time, install the sink faucet, shower head, tub faucet, and toilet.

Accents – If you’re adding any decals or backsplash tiling above the sink, now is the time to add any and all accents.

Accessories – The last step to remodeling your bathroom is adding the typical bathroom accessories, such as a towel rack, toilet roll holder, hooks, or mirrors.
