Water heaters use more energy during winter heating up colder-than-normal water from cold pipes. Between hot water uses, make sure to give your water heater enough time to recover and for the tank to refill to the appropriate temperature setting. You may raise the temperature by a few degrees as needed, but it’s best not to exceed 125 degrees in order to avoid scalding. Insulating pipes that connect to the water heater can also be helpful. Then you can continue to enjoy hot showers on cold winter mornings!
