Gillece Sponsors South Hills First Tech Team, Tech-No-Logic

Gillece sponsors first tech team Gillece is excited to be a sponsor of a FIRST Tech Team based in the South Hills called Tech-No-Logic. The team is comprised of local eighth and ninth-grade students who are interested in FIRST Robotics. FIRST, a non-profit public charity designs programs to motivate young people to pursue opportunities in science, technology, engineering, and math. Their mission is to engage young people in programs that will help them to build relevant skills and inspire them to become leaders in the science and technology industry. As a company that uses the latest technological advances to help fix and improve customers’ homes, Gillece supports young people interested in science and technology who may become future innovators.

FIRST Tech Teams like Tech-No-Logic have the chance to compete in FIRST Tech Competitions, where they design, build, and program a robot to achieve certain tasks. The competitions serve as a fun and exciting way to introduce young people to real-life engineering challenges. Tech-No-Logic funds their team entirely through corporate sponsorships, grants, and donations. Any support the team receives helps them to enter the world of competitive robotics and increases opportunities for students in the area to learn more about science and technology. Gillece has recently become a silver sponsor of the team.

Teams who participate in FIRST Tech Competitions start at the regional level with the chance to advance to state, followed by the FTC World Championship. Teams from around the world compete for first place, the chance to meet technology industry leaders, and for an internship, scholarship, and employment opportunities.

Tech-No-Logic is also sponsored by the Western Area Career & Technology Center in Canonsburg and the Creative Learning Collaborative (CLC). The CLC is a parent-led community group dedicated to the support and development of educational opportunities in the South Hills. Learn more about the CLC at CreativeLearning-pit.org.
